Literature classes are a staple course item in any top American middle and high school curriculum. Through learning to read literature a critical and analytic level, students are able to think through different perspectives and uncover relationships between complex concept, textual evidence, and personal experience. This type of thinking aligns directly with preparation for the redesigned SAT, ACT, and AP/IB exams. Students acquire these skills in New Pathway’s Novel Program by reading a mixture of award-winning fiction and non-fiction novels, alongside a selection of literary classics. These skills are further reinforced through regular in-depth text analysis, Harkness group discussions, integrated essay writing, and extensive vocabulary immersion.
